Inside Nobody Pulled a Lever
Your click-through rate falls while the video reaches more people. Another upload stops growing, and every explanation sounds certain. Nobody Pulled a Lever starts with the gap between what a dashboard shows and what someone claims caused it. It examines YouTube’s published explanations and research papers, then sets out a practical way to read your own results.
The book places impressions, clicks, retention and traffic sources beside one another. It explains why a changing audience can change a rate, why a count and a percentage answer different questions, and why public research cannot reveal every setting in the current recommendation system. Claims about upload schedules, packaging and performance are examined against the documents behind them.
The practical method is a fixed-order review of a video’s performance, followed by a bounded packaging test with a written question and a stopping rule. You learn to record an observation before proposing a cause, change something you can measure, and recognize an inconclusive result. It is a book for making better decisions when the dashboard gives you evidence but leaves part of the explanation unknown.

The click-through-rate paradox
A smaller share of a larger audience can mean more people watched.
